Women’s History Month- Morgan Lander Of Kittie (Video Interview)
The Original Teen Queens Of Nu Metal- Kittie Are Back With The LEGACY OF FIRE Tour- 30 years Of Kittie
I have been a Kittie fan since I first saw these ballsy, heavy ladies killing it at Ozzfest in 2000.
Formed by drummer Mercedes Lander (her singing sister Morgan joined the following year) in 1996, Kittie are metal pioneers with their heavy sound, melodic feel, screams, rough and clean vocals and intricate songwriting. They also infuse their grungy influences in their sound and have been groundbreaking despite lineup changes and internal difficulties.
Personally I think Kittie are the most influential female metal band of the last thirty years. They inspired an entire generation of women who have continued their legacy.
AND I’m super psyched they are touring again and caught up with front woman Morgan Lander last year to discuss the bands comeback and in this clip their “Teenage Resolve” – I remember when I saw Kittie at Ozzfest I was “kinda scared” – in a GOOD way!
