The Talented Sass Jordan Has Died
When I first started in rock radio the early 90’s was a challenging time for women, as the hair metal revolution was dying and grunge was born. Enter Sass Jordan , who put out a killer record RACINE that my station started playing immediately. Sass had a record called “Tell Somebody” that can out in 1988, but “Racine” really catapulted Sass into the rock radio universe.
Her second release RATS featured our NJ brother Brian Tichy on drums and I remember how cool it was than one of us from New Jersey was playing with such a fantastic artist. After Brian left to join “Pride and Glory”, Sass brought in a “new guy” and gave Taylor Hawkins his first gig. Sass visited my station, came on the air with me, I saw her in concert and she was fantastic. Phenomenal singer, great songwriter and performer and stunningly beautiful.
Over time Sass put out 7 more albums, and if you don’t know her music, please listen, you will fall in love with her vocals and straight ahead, authenticity. She was also a judge on the Canadian version of American Idol and I remember thinking “How luck are the kids”? The news broke on Saturday October 3rd that we lost Sass. A tremendous loss for music.

On Oct 2 2026, surrounded by her loving family, Sass Jordan peacefully crossed over to the other side.
She remains in our hearts, an inimitable force of nature. An irreplaceable being of light and joy!
I’d rather quit this life
Jumping with both feet
Into the-you know what
Without a backward look
I’d rather go running there
Arms wide open,
Than slowly ambling
One foot in
Over the edge
Dingle dangling
And no my darlings
Not the slightest jot of fear
And nothing of regret
But for the rest of me
I’ll stand by laughing
Remembering this body
That served me so brilliantly
Through sunshine and other stuff.
I’ll thank it profoundly
And move on, singing
But this time,
Ah yes, this time,
In perfect tune
