Women’s History Month- Nancy Wilson
Another One Of My Hero’s – Nancy Wilson
Who was the first female lead guitarist I remember seeing. Ann and Nancy Wilson were the leaders of their own band and Heart affected my life greatly. Strong, powerful, beautiful. They were and still are unstoppable. I consider myself lucky to have interviewed the Seattle sisters together AND separately over the years and still listen to “Little Queen” , Dog and Butterfly” , “Bebe Le Strange” and their debut “Dreamboat Annie” regularly (and their entire catalog truly, their lesser known “Passionworks” is an underrated gem) . Her flamenco , yet hard driving, folk infused style is unique and impactful.
Nancy’s musical scores are a part of some of my favorite movies- Say Anything, Almost Famous and Jerry Maguire, Elizabethtown….she is amazing.
Here is a clip from a recent interview with Nancy Wilson where she discusses covering Bruce Springsteen’s – “The Rising” – and how she became a “Bruce Convert”
I got a big from her after a live interview for a studio audience at the Google Headquarters – I’ll never forget it.
